Quelle unbekannt

Quotes by D. Hawkins

⚠ Caveat See Power vs. Truth, January 2013

  • Exhaustive investigation has resulted in a calibrated scale of consciousness, in which the log of numbers from 1 to 1,000 calibrates the degree of power of all possible levels of human awareness. [...] The calibrated scale has been examined here in light of current discoveries in advanced theoretical physics and nonlinear dynamics of chaos theory. Calibrated levels, we suggest, represent powerful attractor fields within the domain of consciousness itself, that domi-
nate human existence and therefore define content, meaning, and value, and serve as organizing energies for wide-
spread patterns of human behavior. Source unknown

  • We discovered that the level of relative truth can be calibrated on a scale. Using the field of consciousness as the absolute – everything can be calibrated as compared to that field. Source unknown

  • The ways the various levels of human consciousness express themselves are profound and far reaching; their effects are both gross and subtle. Levels below 200 are detrimental to life in both the individual and society at large; those above 200 are constructive expressions of power. The decisive level of 200 is the fulcrum that divides the general
areas of force and power, truth from falsehood. Emotional correlates of the energy fields of consciousness.
Quoted from Dr. Hawkins bestselling book Power vs. Force'. The Hidden Determinants of Human Behavior, Hay House, February 2002
Note that they [the levels of human consciousness] rarely are manifested as pure states in an individual. Levels of consciousness are always mixed.
A person may operate on one level in a given area of life and on quite another level in another area.
An individual's overall level of consciousness and how it demonstrates is the sum total of these various levels.
Extract on back side of the laminated Map of Consciousness (MoC), Veritas Publishing

  • Inasmuch as everything in the universe is connected with everything else2 it isn't surprising that one of the primary ob-
jectives of this study – a map of the energy fields of consciousness – would correlate with and be corroborated by
all other avenues of investigation, uniting the diversity of human experience and its expressions in an all-encompas-
sing paradigm.[*] Such an insight can bypass the artificial dichotomy between subject and object, transcending the limited viewpoint that creates the illusions of duality.
Power vs. Force. The Hidden Determinants of Human Behavior, chapter 1, S. 44, Hay House, February 2002

  • [*] As Ken Wilber has pointed out, any theory of reality must include and coincide with the perennial philosophy
and an ontological order of being:
    1. matter
    2. biology
    3. psychology
    4. subtle / saintly
    5. sage
    6. ultimate (beyond consciousness)
This is discussed in Wilber's The Holographic Paradigm and Other Paradoxes, S. 159 (1982).
Power vs. Force. The Hidden Determinants of Human Behavior, "Notes", S. 302, Hay House, February 2002

  • For purposes of clarity of expression, the evolution of consciousness has been presented as calibratable, identifiable levels in the style of a progressive chart in order to facilitate comprehension in a manner familiar to the human mind, with its traditionally learned categorization of information. While this style of elucidation is familiar and pragmatic, a progressive chart, however, is an abstraction and not the same as the reality to which it refers. It also appears to artificially separate that which is a wholeness and a continuum into seemingly distinct partions based on identifiable characteristics. I. Reality and Subjectivity, S. 343, 2003

  • Each time we look at the Map of Consciousness, it is from a different perspective with a different emphasis. It alters
our understanding of the nature of human consciousness as we approach it from a different context with a broader understanding. The levels of consciousness have either a positive or a negative direction, with a crucial intersection
in the middle at the level of Courage, which is crossed over by telling the truth. In this case, the telling of the truth is
that "My happiness does not depend on anything outside of me. I, of myself, am the source of my happiness by my
own inner decisions, integrity, intentions, and by the way I see myself and my relationships with the events of life."
    Healing and Recovery, chapter 12 "Depression", S. 367, 2009

  • Each one of these levels has its own paradigm of reality. Each level is a whole domain, you might say. [...] Each one
of these has its own paradigm of values and realities [i.e. what is acceptable, status symbols] each is its own world,
in a way. Sedona Seminar God vs. Science. Limits of the Mind, 3 DVD set, 17. February 2007

  • It is important to understand that no level is better or worse than another. There are no opposites.
The Map of the Levels of Consciousness represents a gradation of consciousness – degrees of the experience of Reality, the existence of God, and the level of lovingness that is present. The 500s (love) are not "better" than the
400s (reason); they simply represent another gradation (and a "higher" level of truth) on an infinitely growing scale.

  • [David R.] Hawkins’ map of consciousness, along with the use of this methodology, allows us to determine the relative value of any frame of reference. Higher levels of energy, or states of consciousness, can be viewed as providing one with a greater context, or less of a restrictive boundary on how self and life are perceived. It can also be viewed as describing the degree to which our perception is coherent with the reality of our lived experience. It describes the de-
gree to which our perception is bounded by the constructed images of thought. The lower the calibration, the thicker
the layers of these images are, and the more they disconnect us from the perception of our immediate lived experi-
ence. At the same time, each level of consciousness has a domain of validity, where the views held tell us something
about life as we experience it at that level. This gives validity to all perspectives, but not in an equal manner that would
send us into a kind of relativism, or a "flatlander" perspective as Ken Wilber calls it. Problems can be seen to arise when any given perspective tries to stipulate that it alone determines the validity of other perspectives. Wilber (1997) describes a four quadrant model of consciousness, and in talking about the need for correlating the relations between approaches states that this process is "in no way trying to reduce any to the others" (S. 88).3 The ability to associate these frames of reference with a numerical scale allows us to empirically assess various concepts of identity, especi-
ally as they relate to our paradigmatic assumptions about reality as a whole, and consciousness in particular. […]
Wilber lists twelve […] schools of thought, and the calibrations that follow are based upon Wilber’s descriptions:
    • LoC 655 – Eastern and contemplative traditions
    • LoC 640Subtle energies research
    • LoC 575 – Quantum consciousness
    • LoC 540 – Nonordinary states of consciousness
    • LoC 535 – Individual psychotherapy
    • LoC 520 – Psychosomatic medicine
    • LoC 490 – Cognitive science
    • LoC 485 – Social psychology
    • LoC 485 – Developmental psychology
    • LoC 480 – Introspectionism
    • LoC 440 – Neuropsychology
    • LoC 420 – Clinical psychiatry
[…] The ones that calibrate lower tend to deal more with the constructed images of self and the physical embodiment, while perspectives calibrating higher tend to deal more directly with the less material aspects of our being.

ton, S. 7-8, December 1999

Literary quotes

  • Let the youthful soul look back on life with the question:
➤ what have you truly loved up to now,
➤ what has elevated your soul,
➤ what has mastered it and at the same time delighted it?
Place these venerated objects before you in a row, and perhaps they will yield for you, through their nature and their sequence, a law, the fundamental law of your true self. Compare these objects, see how one complements, expands, surpasses, transfigures another, how they form a stepladder upon which you have climbed up to yourself as you are
now; for your true nature lies, not hidden deep within you, but immeasurably high above you, or at least above that which you normally take to be yourself.
Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche (1844-1900) German classical scholar, critic of culture, philologist, philosopher of nihilism [LoC 120],
writer, unpublished work, possibly On the Future of our Educational Institutions, T.N. Foulis, Edinburgh and London, 1910
