Devotion

  • In waking, eating, working, dreaming, sleeping, serving, meditation, chanting, divinely loving, my soul constantly hums, unheard by any: God! God! God! Prayer

  • The average man prays to God with his mind only, not with all the fervor of his heart. Such prayers are too weak to bring any response. We should speak to the Divine Spirit with a feeling of closeness, as to a father or mother. Our relationship with God should be one of unconditional love.
A definite conception of God (such as that of the Divine Mother) is necessary, otherwise one does not receive a clear response. And the demand for the Lord's reply should be strong; a half-believing prayer is not sufficient. If you make
up your mind: "He is going to talk with me"; if you refuse to believe differently, regardless of how many years He has
not answered you; if you go on trusting Him, one day He will respond.

Spiritual practice

  • Follow a simple diet, exercise the body, and meditate daily – no matter what happens, rain or shine. If you are unable to exercise and meditate in the morning, do it at night. Pray to Him every day, 'Lord, even if I die, or if the whole world crumbles away, I am going to find time daily to be with Thee.' Simplicity

  • You think you must have this or that and then you can be happy. But no matter how many of your desires are satisfied, you never will find happiness through them. The more you have, the more you want. Learn to live simply. Lord Krishna said: "His mind is full with contentment whose desires ever flow inward. That man is like a changeless ocean which is kept
brimful with constantly entering waters. He is not a muni who bores holes of desires in his reservoir of peace and
    lets the waters escape."

Reminders of God

  • The scenery of mountains painted on the ever-changing azure canvas of the sky, the mysterious mechanism of the human body, the rose, the green grass carpet, the magnanimity of souls, the loftiness of minds, the depth of love – all these things remind us of a God who is beautiful and noble.

Evil

  • The vibrations of evil that mankind leaves in the ether upset the normal harmonious balance of the Earth. When the Earth becomes very heavy with disease and evil, these etheric disturbances cause the world to give way to earthquakes, floods, and other natural disasters. Astrology

  • Superstitious awe of astrology makes one an automaton, slavishly dependent on mechanical guidance. The wise man defeats his planets – which is to say, his past-by transferring his allegiance from the creation to the Creator. The more he realizes his unity with Spirit, the less he can be dominated by matter. The soul is ever-free; it is deathless because birth-
    less.
It cannot be regimented by stars.
