Geistiges Heilen ist in Deutschland ohne Besitz des Heilpraktikerscheins erlaubt. Am 2. März 2004 entschied das Bundesverfassungsgericht (AZ: 1 BvR 784/03):

"Wer die Selbstheilungskräfte des Patienten durch Handauflegen aktiviert und dabei keine Diagnosen stellt,
benötigt keine Heilpraktikererlaubnis."

Das «geistige Werkzeug» des Heilenden ist demgemäß im Grunde nichts anderes als das Gebet. Der konfessionell gebundene religiöse Mensch gebraucht das Wort «beten». Der nichtkonfessionell gebundene, der sich den höheren Mächten verpflichtet weiß, «betet» auch auf seine Art, nicht im Sinne seines Glaubensbekenntnisses vorgegeben, sondern ganz aus sich heraus. Und dieses Gebet ist oft viel tiefer und ursprünglicher, weil es so gut wie immer aus
der echten Verarbeitung des täglichen Lebens heraus erwächst. Es kommt gewiss ganz natürlich-unverfälscht aus
der Tiefe der Seele, aus dem tiefverwurzelten Gefühl der Bindung, der Verbindung mit den göttlichen Kräften und
Mächten. Das ist der Fall, auch wenn der Betende das Wort "Gott" gar nicht gebrauchen oder als solches in sei-
nem Herzen haben sollte. Geistiges Heilen ohne dieses echte Gebet kann gar nicht zum Erfolg führen.
